Rummy 500 Score Sheet

A free Rummy 500 score sheet that does the adding for you. Enter what each player melded and what they were caught holding, and it keeps the running totals and tells you who wins. Or print a blank sheet for the card table.

How to use the score sheet

  1. Name the players. Two to six players. Pick a game to 500 points, or 250 for a quicker one.
  2. After each hand, enter two numbers per player: the points they melded and laid off, and the points still in their hand. A box you leave empty counts as 0.
  3. Press Add hand. The sheet works out each hand score and the running totals, and marks the leader.

When someone reaches the target, the sheet names the winner. If two players finish tied for the lead, it tells you to play one more hand. Made a typo? Undo last hand takes the hand back so you can enter it again.

The game is saved in your browser as you go, so you can lock your phone or close the tab and the scores will still be there. Print sheet prints the hands so far with empty rows below them, or a blank sheet if you haven’t started.

How Rummy 500 scoring works

At the end of each hand, every player scores:

points melded and laid off − points left in hand = score for the hand

CardPoints
Ace15 (only 1 when melded low in A-2-3)
King, Queen, Jack10
2 through 10Face value

An Ace left in your hand always costs 15. A card you lay off on someone else’s meld counts for you, not for the player who started the meld. Scores can drop below zero, and they carry over from hand to hand until someone reaches 500.

A worked example

Three players, first hand. Rose melded 7♠ 7♥ 7♦ and 9♣ 10♣ J♣, then laid off the Q♣: 21 + 29 + 10 = 60 on the table. June melded and laid off 47 points and went out while Rose still held an Ace and a 4, which cost her 15 + 4 = 19. Hank melded K♠ K♥ K♦ for 30 and was left holding 8♦ 6♣ 5♠ 2♥, which add up to 21.

PlayerMeldedIn handHand score
Rose6019+41
June470+47
Hank3021+9

June went out, so she had nothing left in hand. On the score sheet you would type 60 and 19 for Rose, 47 and 0 (or leave it empty) for June, and 30 and 21 for Hank.

Tips for keeping score at the table

  • Leave melds on the table until the hand is scored. Each player counts their own melds and lay-offs, and the others can check them.
  • Count tens first. Pick out the 10s, Jacks, Queens and Kings, then add the rest. It’s faster and you make fewer mistakes.
  • Watch the Aces. An Ace in a low run (A-2-3) is 1 point; everywhere else, and in your hand, it’s 15. It’s the most common scoring argument in the game.
  • Agree on house rules before you start. Whether you must discard to go out, whether runs can go around the corner, and what happens on a tie for the lead.

Rummy 500 scoring FAQ

How do you keep score in Rummy 500?

After each hand, each player adds up the cards they melded and laid off, then subtracts the cards still in their hand. That hand score is added to their running total. The first player to reach 500 wins; if two players pass 500 in the same hand, the higher total wins.

Can your score go negative in Rummy 500?

Yes. If the cards left in your hand are worth more than the cards you melded, your hand score is negative, and your total can drop below zero. The score sheet shows negative scores in red.

What happens if two players reach 500 in the same hand?

The player with the higher total wins. If they are exactly tied for the lead, play one more hand to settle it. The score sheet tells you when that happens.

How much is an Ace worth?

An Ace is worth 15 points, melded or left in your hand. The only exception is an Ace melded low in a run like A-2-3, which counts 1.

Can I print a blank Rummy 500 score sheet?

Yes. Press Print sheet before you add any hands to print a blank sheet with a column pair for each player, or after a few hands to print the game so far with empty rows below.

Is my game saved if I close the page?

Yes, in this browser on this device. The scores are kept in your browser’s local storage, never sent anywhere. New game clears the sheet and keeps the player names.
